I think the Gartner Magic Quadrant for UC published in 2009 portrays an interesting picture. Not surprisingly, Microsoft and Cisco are in the leaders quadrant but they are joined by Siemens Enterprise Communications. Siemens have a pitch which sounds similar to Novell’s SUSE offering and is all based around open standards. Also, If Nortel are the Visionaries and Avaya are in the leaders quadrant then the acquisition of Nortel by Avaya should put Avaya in a very strong position in the next release Gartner quadrant!
